dr hab. inż. Janusz Bohatkiewicz, prof. IBDiM
Dr hab. Eng. Janusz Bohatkiewicz is a road construction engineer and specialist in road design, traffic engineering, the environmental impact of road traffic, and eco-infrastructure solutions. He is the author and co-author of over 100 scientific publications, guidelines and manuals in the field of roads and bridges.
He has led and participated in numerous practical and implementation-oriented projects, mainly in the fields of road and railway engineering, including technical and economic studies, conceptual designs, construction and detailed design projects, technical expert opinions, acoustic maps, environmental noise protection programmes, environmental impact assessment reports for road and railway projects, post-implementation analyses and environmental reviews.
From 2016 to 2021, he headed the Department of Roads and Bridges at the Lublin University of Technology, and he currently serves as Director of the Road and Bridge Research Institute.
A member of the World Road Association (PIARC), from 2019 to 2023 he participated in the work of Technical Committee TC.3.4 “Environmental Sustainability in Road Infrastructure and Transport” and Task Force TF.4.1 “Road Design Standards”. Since 2024, he has been Chair of Technical Committee TC 4.5 “Decarbonization of Road Construction and Maintenance”.
